—2019 The Mother's Day Celebration:

Despite soggy weather, members (300+) started arriving from 11:30 am who after savoring fafda, jalebi and tea/coffee, joined in the usual prayer and participated in the Mother’s Day celebration, an event which initially had started in western countries has over a time proliferated in eastern countries including India, where a second Sunday of May is officially designated as Mother’s Day. While welcoming members, President wished a Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers and congratulated members who packed the hall disregarding cool rainy Sunday. He appreciated the paramount role of mothers who endure infinite sacrifices in raising young kids. He saluted all working mothers who adroitly juggle several balls at the same time keeping a balance between the family and outside job.

Mom is always ranked number one in the world as embodied in Upnishad (Matru Devo Bhava, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava, Atithi Devo Bhava) and in Gujarati song Maa Baap Ne Bhulsho Nahi. No one can come closer in comparison to mother’s unconditional and selfless love and affection as expressed succinctly in Kavi Botadkar’s poem ‘Janani Ni Jod Sakhi Nahi Jade Re Lol’.

Mom is universally known for her broad heartedness and forgiveness towards disloyal children as expressed in Sanskrit sloka ‘Kuputro Jayet Kvachidapi Kumata Na Bhavti’.

A musical orchestra, led by Mr. Umesh Patel captivated the audience and rocked the hall for more than three hours. Splashed with a mom’s song and a Sai Baba bhajan,he sang in his melodious voice a range of beautiful songs in Gujarati and Hindi honoring mothers. Accompanied by Mrs. Madhu Vijay and Mr. Patel, the trio entertained the audience with yesteryear songs of notable singers including Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Mohammad Rafi, and Mukesh. The audience cheered to the old songs such as Jo Wada Kiya Woh Nibhana Padega, Mere Sapno Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu, Tune Kajal Lagaya Din Mein Raat Ho Gai, Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, Bahon Mein Chale Aao, Mast Kalandar, Aandhali Maa No Kagal, to name just a few. Befitting the tunes, seniors dashed to the dance floor.

Mr. Umesh Patel, a musical virtuoso, tremendously impressed the audience who loudly applauded his orchestra and expressed their desire to invite him again for future events.
