1. THE JULY 22nd MEETING:
The meeting started with a prayer by Mr. & Mrs. Pankajbhai & Diptiben Devashreye.
President welcomed members and briefed about today’s program.
(i) Mr. Jigar Rana’s Presentation:
Mr. Jigar Rana (profile attached), Executive Director, Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Ahemedabad, gave a presentation on Magaj Ni Musafari (મગજની મુસાફરી) – Red to Green Zone via Orange Zone. We are thankful to Mr. Sudhirbhai Vaishnav, Executive Director of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, U.S., for introducing Mr. Rana to us.
Mr. Rana kicked off the subject by referring to Indian Government’s Covid classification into three zones, viz., 1. Green Zone meaning everything is safe showing signs of positivity, 2. Orange Zone meaning some potential problems, and 3. Red Zone meaning quarantine and infectious areas showing signs of negativity.
Similarly, our Magaj – मगज analyzes each event into the three zones. In this connection, citing the theory of cockroaches, he explained the reaction when a cockroach jumped on a sari of a lady customer who screamed (red zone), then the cockroach jumped on a sari of another lady customer who also screamed (red zone), so on and so forth, creating the atmosphere of negativity and confusion. Thereafter, the cockroach jumped on a shirt of a waiter who caught it quietly and threw it out without any commotion (green zone) reflecting a sign of positivity. Thus, he illustrated the “mindset” or “understanding” of the ladies and the waiter while dealing with a situation.
Mr. Rana attributed the epic battle of Mahabharat on the mindset of Pandavas (green zone of positivity) and Kauravas (red zone of negativity reflecting personal selfish interest.)
Most of the time we live in an orange zone. However, it’s a human nature of a person to think that he is right and the other person is wrong. This attitude in a day to day life puts him initially in a red zone, e.g., getting delayed and feeling restless while driving in a jammed traffic or waiting for an elevator. However, once he comes to know the underlying reason for the delay, his mindset switches from red zone to orange zone to green zone. Therefore, it’s up to a person to make a choice whether to keep Magaj – मगज in a red zone, orange zone or green zone in each situation.
A person will generally stay in an orange zone instead of in a red zone if he tries to understand the other person’s situation. Therefore, never try to be judgmental about others. Regarding uniqueness, a person is a product of the environment in which he grew up. Sometimes, people constantly blame the government reflecting negative mindset (red zone). If they ever happen to step in the government’s shoes, they realize how difficult it is to manage. On the other hand, Johnny Lever, despite difficult childhood life, had positive mindset (green zone) and starred as an Indian actor and comedian.
Most of the time, we live in an orange zone and should strive towards green zone by controlling our mind. Viewers appreciated Mr. Rana’s an hour and a half thought-provoking lecture.
