While welcoming members, President informed that traditionally we have been inviting outside speakers at our Thursday meetings; instead, today we have invited members to participate and exhibit their talents in their favorite hobbies. Therefore, a special program ગમતાનો કરીયે ગુલાલ was planned for them and their families to show their expertise in potpourri of songs, jokes, ghazals, shayaries, stories, anecdotes, etc. The program was named ગમતાનો કરીયે ગુલાલ based on a poem by Shri Makarand Dave preaching that it’s not useful to keep to oneself talent or knowledge; rather it should be shared to others.

The program proved a great success due to the overwhelming interest shown by members’ participation and was enjoyed by a large viewership (175 Zoom logins). The program was planned to encourage members to come forward with their talents and did not involve competition. Mr. Rajesh Naik, a versatile singer, from Surat kicked off with a  Bhajan of Mara Ghatman Birajata ShriNathji, followed by Mr. Ashok Shah’s inspirational discussion with a positive attitude.

Dr. Manoj Salpekar from Nagpur stressed the importance of an effective communication skill. Viewers enjoyed melodious songs by Surabhi Dhomne, a musical virtuoso, accompanied by Sachinji on tabla. Thereafter, a flurry of songs from Asha Dharawat, Ashok Gandhi, Chandrakant Shah, Dinesh (Sheela) Shah, Harshad Joshi, Mayur & Rekha Trivedi, Rajesh & Rupa Shah, Shashikala Shah, and Dr. Virendra Juthani followed. Renuka Shah’s dazzling dance was impressive.

Dinesh (Kailas) Shah presented a novel program of Kon Banega Karodpati. Hemant Pandit, a literary person, recited his self-made poem. Jayantibhai Shah narrated a heart-touching episode of broad-minded children during the Halloween’s treat or trick time. Narendra Patel cracked several jokes. Dr. Ojas Desai recited interesting shayaries and ghazals. Dr. Nalini Juthani adroitly described the background of Nanima’s diary which prompted her to chronicle her book. Yasumati (Raksha) Patel exhibited her dramatic skill of dialogues and acting. Mukund Mehta recounted his funny experience 50 years back when he visited Manhattan men’s cloth store to buy a pair of suits. The program was capped with Suresh Dalal’s song Kamaal Kare Chhe sung by Mr. Rajesh Naik.

Thanks to all participants and to Pankajbhai for his time and efforts for coordinating the program with participants. The program was extended up to 2:30pm due to the overwhelming interest shown by participants and viewers.
