PRESIDENT’S REPORT # 18 - Mukund Mehta

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dear Friends:

Hope all of you are fine and busy with activities. During the week, the Center organized a Zoom meeting on Thursday, July, 16, 2020 at 11:00am.

1. The Musical Program:

The program started with a prayer by Mrs. Shobhnaben Aroonbhai Shah.

The Bollywood singer Mr. Harry Malhotra, a Radio Jockey with Radio Zindagi 540 AM, entertained seniors for over an hour with famous Bollywood Hindi songs, reviving memories of yesteryear singers like Kishore Kumar and Mukesh.

Mr. Malhotra unleashed a string of songs such as Hamein Tumse Pyar Kitna, Hamein Aur Jeene Ki Chahat Na Hoti, Pyar Diwana Hota Hai, Hai Apna Dil To Awara, Ye Raate Ye Mausam Nadi Ka Kinara, Duniya Banane Wale, Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho, Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi. The finale song Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna capped the musical Mahefil. Our enthusiastic senior couples danced from their homes to the tune of songs.

The July-month birthdays of Mrs. Smitaben Pankajbhai Mehta and other seniors and the July wedding anniversaries were celebrated with a gusto.

The Center is thankful for contributions of $151 from Mrs. Smitaben Mehta and $100 from Mr. Ashok Sheth.

Viewers gave a thumping applause to Harry. The  Center thanks him for his complimentary program.

2. The Surprise Party:

The Center organized a surprise party for the musical virtuoso Surabhi Dhomne on her 50th Birthday when seniors showered her with a Happy Birthday song Bar Bar Din Ye Aaye. Sachin Dhomne arranged at a short notice a mini orchestra when Surabhi, despite of a flurry of a daylong birthday celebrations in Nagpur, entertained seniors with a series of songs.

Viewers enjoyed a litany of old songs such as, Dil Chahta Hai, Mere Mehboob Tujhe Meri Mohabbat Ki Kasam, Piya Tose Naina Laage Re, Hava Mein Udta Jaye Mera Laal, Tune Bansi Bajai Aadhi Raat Ko, Ho Gai Aadhi Raat Ab Ghar Jane Do, Jhumka Gira Re Bareli Ke Bazar Mein, Pyar Kia To Darna Kya, among others.

Seniors appreciated the Dhomne couple’s presentation at a short notice.

A Vote of Thanks by Mr. Mansukhbhai Patel.
