PRESIDENT’S REPORT # 19 - Mukund Mehta
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Dear Friends:
Hope you are doing fine. During the week, the Center organized a Zoom meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11:00am and its highlights are:
1. The Musical Program:
The meeting started with a prayer by Mrs. Indiraben Joshi.
A moment of silence was observed to pay tributes to four departed souls, viz., Mrs. Sushilaben Ghevaria, 94, the mother of our member Dr. Nalini Juthani; Mrs. Ambaben Patel, 92, the mother of our member Mr. Khandubhai Patel; and Mrs. Kokilaben Shah, our member and the mother of Mr. Paresh Shah, who is the speaker for next Thursday meeting. In addition, Mr. Peter Bheddah, past president of GSNY and a community leader, passed away yesterday. Our condolences and sympathies to the families. May God rest their souls in peace. Photos are attached.
Since Mrs. Preeti Sengupta, a world traveler, could not give her scheduled presentation today due to some technical issues, Mr. Harry Malhotra, a Radio Jockey at Radio Zindagi 540 AM and Bollywood singer, who had entertained our seniors last Thursday continued his stellar performance today for an hour.
Harry concentrated on songs of Mukesh Ji to commemorate his 97th Birthday which happened to be yesterday. Seniors enjoyed Mukesh Ji’s songs Ek Din Bik Jaayega Mati Ke Mol, Baar Baar Dekho Hazaar Bar Dekho, Bholi Surat Dil Ke Khote, Sawan Ka Mahina Pawan Kare Shor, Sab Kuchh Seekha Hamne Na Sikhi Hoshiyari, Dam Dam Diga Diga, Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhagi Si (Kishore Kumar) and capped the program with Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli Haye, Kabhi Toh Hasaye, Kabhi Yeh Rulaye.

Happy Birthday to Jyotindrabhai Patel in whose honor seniors joined in the birthday song Ham Bhi Agar Bachche Hote. Thanks to Jyotindrabhai and Paranjyotiben for sponsoring the event.
2. Dr. Manoj Salpekar’s Presentation:
Pankajbhai Parikh, VP, introduced a motivational speaker Dr. Manoj Salpekar whom you all know as he acts as an excellent emcee at the Dhomne Group’s orchestra performances from Nagpur, India. Multi-talented Dr. Salpekar, who has the honor of working with several celebrities, is associated with a range of organizations and is a recipient of multitude of recognitions and awards.
Under a catchy title of बुद्धा होगा तेरा बाप, he championed a positive attitude of looking for सुन्दरता everywhere so as to feel young even though one may get advanced in age. Physical impairments such as weakness, partial loss of hearing and eyesight, gray hair, etc. are bound to occur with the old age, but instead of succumbing to these natural phenomena, one should yearn for new learnings so as to keep mind active and alert. This is of vital interest for seniors particularly under the current depressing environment of Coronavirus.
Dr. Salpekar urged seniors to look within themselves and unleash the hidden talents. He quoted Pradip Ji who advocated ख़ुद से बात करो, so did Swami Vivekanand. Don’t hold on your skills and knowledge to yourself, instead, प्यार बाँटते रहो. He succinctly explained the difference between संसार and सन्यास, as well as ऐकांकि and ऐकांत. He strongly believes that ख़ुशिसे किया काम अच्छा ही होता है which ultimately bares happiness hormones.
Our thanks to Navnitbhai & Premilaben Shah for a $51 donation.
A Vote of Thanks by Mr. Harshadbhai Joshi.
