2. Akshay Patra’s Gratitude Gala:
Dr. Bhadra Shah (profile attached) succinctly presented background of Akshay Patra describing emotionally what made her to join the benevolent organization which serves daily meals to 1.8 million children over 19,000 schools across 14 states in India and provided almost 100 million meals to migrant and poor workers. Gala is named Gratitude meaning Great Attitude, i. e., our attitude towards others. The motto is See God and Serve God which is within human beings. Patra is ઘડો which is deemed to be full with પ્રેમ, સહાનુભૂતિ, અન્ન, અને શિક્ષણ – – these are the sine qua non for the upliftment of children and migrant workers who have been suddenly displaced due to coronavirus. અન્નદાન અને વિદ્યાદાન are considered સુવર્ણદાન which forms foundation for the growth of millions of poor children in India.
Thousands of front line workers like healthcare providers and others have contributed their selfless services days and nights without any expectations during the pandemic period. These silent workers need recognition and honor and that is why the Gratitude Gala is organized to pay them tribute on Saturday, November 21, which will be graced by well known personalities including Hema Malini, Javed Akhtar and Shankar Mahadevan.
Dr. Rachana Kulkarni, Board Member and Tri-State Chair, and Ms. Ankita Narula, Development Director also described Akshay Patra’s activities. Mr. Biren Shah, Co-Chair, Tristate Chapter, presented several useful videos explaining very clearly the gigantic operations of Akshay Patra.
