PRESIDENT’S REPORT # 56 and 57 - Mukund Mehta

PRESIDENT’S REPORTS

Dear Friends:

The following are brief reports of the January 21 and January 23 Zoom meetings. Meetings are recorded and placed promptly on YouTube by Jagdishbhai Patel, VP-PR. Thanks Jagdishbhai.

1. THE JANUARY 21ST MEETING:

(a) Shri Yadunathji Mahodaya’s Presentation:

The meeting started with a prayer by Mr. Jignesh Shah. The program was anchored by Pankaj Parikh, VP.

In his welcome address, President requested viewers to observe a moment of silence to pay tribute to (1) Mrs. Taraben Desai, the mother of Mrs. Dakshaben Patel and mother-in-law of Mr. Harshad Patel (Pakaji), President of Gujarati Samaj of New York (GSNY), and (2) Mrs. Savitaben Patel, the mother of Mrs. Bhavnaben Patel and mother-in-law of Mr. Mahesh Patel, Treasurer of GSNY, who passed away this week. Condolences and sympathies to their families. May God rest their souls in peace.

President referred to the peaceful transition of power in Washington DC yesterday and wished well to the new President Joseph Biden and VP Kamala Devi Harris.

We are thankful to today’s sponsors Indravadanbhai & Hemangiben Shah who are celebrating birthday and wedding anniversary of family members. Pankaj Parikh, VP, introduced the couple who in turn addressed viewers. A PowerPoint presentation, prepared by Jyotindrabhai Patel, was displayed by Jagdishbhai Patel, VP-PR. Thanks to both of them.

Harishbhai Parikh, Trustee of Vaishnav Temple of New York introduced Shri Yadunathji Mahodaya (see attachment).

Starting with a prayer, Shri Yadunathji Mahodaya explained succinctly the meaning and importance of today’s inspirational subject “Aathamta Surynu Aishwarya.” During a life cycle, a person faces ups and downs, confronts obstacles, enjoys achievements and as he reaches old age, he builds up a reservoir of experiences which provides solace and guidance to younger generation.

Shri Yadunathji listed types of activities a person should do based on age, e.g., new trials and errors during the age group of 20 to 30, follow an idol during 30 and 40, stay and focus on what you do during 40 and 50, guide and delegate to youngsters during 50 and 60, and enjoy the life and be happy after 60. Old people remain unhappy because of problems which are 90% invited and 10% real. They will be really happy if they refrain from gossiping andgiving unsolicited advice. They should not make any statements unless 100% sure of facts.

As a key to happiness, he strongly suggested to step down once your role is over, to volunteer for society without any expectation, to avoid giving negative opinion about others, and to refrain from comparison and competition. Peaceful life stems from your matured understanding, pleasant talk, good nature, readiness to forget and forgive, respect other’s opinion, don’t be judgmental, be open minded, keep silence, connect to others. Happiness sprigs from inside and no one else can give you.

Interesting Q&A followed. Viewers applauded Shri Yadunathji Mahodaya for providing a key for happiness in old age.
